UNDERSTANDING YOUR RIGHTS

It is important when dealing with your insurance company you are prepared and know when your rights are being compromised.

The state of Texas is a "right to choose state." Regardless of what anyone tells you (including your adjuster,) you have the right to choose any repair facility you desire.

  1. Most importantly, always remember the autobody shop and the insurance company work for you, and your needs should always be put first because you are the customer.

  2. No insurance company can make you obtain more than 1 estimate--do not let them waste your time by making you provide 3 estimates. Tell them the shop you want to choose, and they will comply.

  3. If your adjuster tells you to choose a shop that is on a preferred network list, remember that shop works for the insurance companies, and its MAIN GOAL is to please the insurance companies, not to repair your car.

  4. It is common to have different price estimates. Your estimate may not include all work necessary to complete the repair using the preferred method. Please ask us to clarify if you have conflicting estimate.

  5. Make sure to choose an auto body shop that has certified technicians and that offers a lifetime warranty on all repairs.

  6. Your shop can negotiate your insurance claim for you to insure you are getting what you deserve when it comes time to repair your car. Hold the shop accountable in this regard--they work for you.​
